Ed. 1st (anonymous).
The poem was written in Florence under the impression of a trip to the Middle East. The title character of the poem by J. Słowacki, Poem Piast Dantyszek of the Leliwa coat of arms about hell, a Sarmatian nobleman who, after the death of five sons and the betrayal of the homeland by a sixth - sets out to complain to God. His path leads through a hell populated mainly by Poland's political enemies, and the goal is not achieved;
"clearly marked Dantean poem about suffering and death" (LPPE) - one of the most controversial and at the same time the most interesting works of the poet. The poem is preceded by a dedicated poem dedicated to Warsaw: "Offering", date. November 15, 1838 in Florence.
"Poema" was to be included in the volume "Trzy poemata", but the political situation in the country forced Słowacki to give up this intention and announce it anonymously.
