For a long time I have been trying to write this post...
What to write about your favorite book? What to write about a beautiful book about love, sacrifice, loss of childhood, innocence, not to fall into exaggeration, being banal or overly torn?
"Here is my secret: it is very simple: he can only see with his heart, the most important one is invisible to the eye ..."
Probably all of us remember this maxim. She defines our hero and determines his actions, let's stop there.
Little Prince has aroused the exceptional interest of Polish readers, as evidenced not only by the fact that the translation of the text from French into Polish has taken up 18 different translators, but also that Polish is the first language in the world (outside of obvious English), into which the book was translated.
The first Polish edition of The Little Prince in Polish was published in 1947 by The Publishing Company "Płomienie, in the translation of Marta Malicka, just two years after the end of the war. Today this edition is less and less popular in the trade.
Malicka's translation, however, was not very popular, perhaps because of its low circulation and limited availability.
In 1958 Pax published the first edition in the most popular Polish translation by Jan Szwykowski. It is his version of The Little Prince that most Poles cite.
Below there is that translation of this book in exclusive leather bookbinding for collectors.
If you like it, give your paw up:
